Die Arbeitswissenschaft versucht Hilfestellungen fUr die betriebliche Reali- tat so zu geben, daB die Mitarbeiter in einer qualitativ anspruchsvollen Ar- beitsumwelt Produkte unkompliziert und effizient herstellen konnen. Die Bitte von Dr. Bethge yom Bundesministerium ftir Arbeit und So- zialordnung in der Kommission fur die Erforschung des sozialen und politi- schen Wandels in den neuen Bundesliindern e.V. (KSPW) ftir den Arbeits- schutz im Sinne der Arbeitswissenschaft mitzuwirken, eroffnete die Mog- lichkeit, den historischen UmstellungsprozeB in den Betrieben der neuen Bundeslander unmittelbar beobachten und begleiten zu konnen. Erste Seminare im Jahre 1990 vor dem Vertrag tiber die Wahrungs-, Wirtschafts- und Sozialunion in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern hatten das In- teresse an dem sich abzeichnenden UmstellungsprozeB in der damaligen DDR geweckt. Als Ltibecker, der vier Kilometer von der ehemaligen Zonen- grenze entfernt wohnt, ergab sich zudem die Moglichkeit systematischer zu erkunden, was lange verschlossen war. Die KSPW mit der Vielzahl der in ihr vertretenen Wissenschaftsdisziplinen sollte dazu eine vorztigliche Basis bilden. Die Initiierung, Begleitung und Koordinierung der Aktivitaten zur Er- hebung der Situation beztiglich Arbeit und Gesundheit in den NBL erfolgte dann im Rahmen einer Arbeitsgruppe, die tiber einen Zeitraum von ftinf Jahren Dr. Kuhn von der Bundesanstalt fUr Arbeitsschutz mitgestaitete. Da- bei wurden insbesondere wissenschaftliche Fragestellungen der Transfor- mation und deren mogliche Umsetzungen im Rahmen des sich durch EU- Vorgaben entwickelnden gesamtdeutschen Arbeitsschutzes mit vorgedacht.
