Obgleich Georg Simmel historisch zu den Klassikern soziologischen Denkens gehört, ist sein Denken immer noch von einer hohen Aktualität geprägt. Stephan Moebius weist in seiner Untersuchung nach, dass sich bei Simmel Denkbewegungen finden lassen, die sowohl modern, postmodern als auch poststrukturalistisch sind. Ausgehend von einer Analyse eher randständiger Themen des Simmelschen Werkes, rückt Stephan Moebius diese ins Zentrum und weist ihnen eine gewichtige Bedeutung für den aktuellen soziologischen Diskurs zu. Die Gegenstände der Untersuchungen sind das Geheimnis, die Dankbarkeit, die Fremdheit und die Andersheit. Ist das Geheimnis konstitutiv sowohl für die Vergesellschaftung als auch für eine zu kommende Soziologie? Wie ist das Verhältnis zwischen Gabe und Dankbarkeit? Kann einer Gabe überhaupt gedankt werden, ohne die Gabe auszulöschen? Dies sind die Fragen, denen sich die dekonstruktiven Lektüren von Simmels Soziologie widmen. In welchem Verhältnis steht die Fremdheitsauffassung von Georg Simmel zu derjenigen von Albert Camus? Im Anschluss an die moderne und postmoderne Lektüre der Fremdheit analysiert Stephan Moebius anhand kulturwissenschaftlicher und poststrukturalistischer Theorien die Konstituierungen kultureller, ethnischer und nationaler Identitäten und Alteritäten. Dadurch zeigt er auf, dass man Simmels Werk auf verschiedene Arten und immer ganz anders lesen kann. Der Autor: Stephan Moebius, geboren 1973 in Konstanz, ist Soziologe und Kulturwissenschaftler. Derzeit lehrt er an der Universität Bremen. Arbeitsschwerpunkte und Veröffentlichungen zu Soziologiegeschichte, klassischen und modernen soziologischen Theorien, Kultursoziologie, Wissenssoziologie, Politischer Soziologie, feministischen Theorien, französischer Soziologie, Anthropologie.
Moebius, Stephan: - Stephan Moebius ist Universitätsprofessor für Soziologische Theorie und Ideengeschichte an der Karl-Franzens-Universität Graz und korrespondierendes Mitglied der Österreichischen Akademie der Wissenschaften. Seine Schwerpunkte sind Soziologiegeschichte, Soziologische Theorie und Kultursoziologie.
