Auf der Basis eines kritischen Überblicks über verschiedene Forschungstraditionen wird ein deskriptives Modell der Therapiemotivation im therapeutischen Proze entworfen, das motivationale Prozesse und die sie bestimmenden Einflu faktoren vom Entstehen des Bedürfnisses nach professioneller Hilfe bis zum Beenden der Therapie beschreibt. Ausschlaggebend für die Entstehung von Leidensdruck und der Motivation, professionelle Hilfe aufzusuchen, sind kognitive Bewertungsprozesse bezüglich der durch eine Störung erlebten Hilflosigkeit, Normabweichung und Behinderung sowie die Zuversicht, da eine Psychotherapie Hilfe bei der Störungsbewältigung leisten kann. In Form einer Post-hoc-Feldstudie an ambulanten Patienten mit unterschiedlichen psychischen Problemen werden Störungsspezifität, Proze verläufe und Einflu dieser Therapiemotivations-Komponenten sowie volitionaler Faktoren auf das therapeutische Basisverhalten der Patienten und den Therapieerfolg analysiert.

Dr. Andreas Veith ist wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter am Lehrstuhl für Klinische Psychologie und im Zentrum für Psychotherapie der Ruhr-Universität Bochum sowie Geschäftsführer des Weiterbildenden Studiengangs Klinische Psychologie und Psychotherapie.
