About The Book

The history, culture and traditions of Tibet (Lhasa) and Greater Tibet (Ladakh) constitute a distinguished feature, the roots of which are so deep right from the beginning of civilizations. The book originally written by Wazir Hashmatullah Khan Lukhnavi in Urdu comes to the reader in English in its best contents incorporating all vital information on Tibet and Ladakh, which will be very useful to the students, teachers, researchers and also to the spiritual world. Penned by such a person of eminence, who was also the Wazir-e-Wazarat of Ladakh, the book is the authentic chronology of history and an anthology of significant socio-political events of the past and present which shaped both these regions and Baltistan. The book presents to the reader a comprehensive canvas as the author minutely observes the people’s traditional way of life; together with their rich and distinct heritage.

About The Author

Zain-ul-Aabedin Aabedi, M.A. and M.Ed. from Kashmir University, retired as Principal, Boys Higher Secondary School, Leh. During his service he participated in many seminars and workshops and presented papers on history, religion, culture and social life of north India. He also served as Principal of the prestigious Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya for a period of five years. He has written over a hundred articles for All India Radio and Doordarshan, Leh. Several of his articles have been published in different magazines, books and national dailies. His poetry in Urdu and Ladakhi on various social, cultural, educational and religious topics is articulate, interesting and impressive. He is also a member of IALS (International Association for Ladakh Studies).
