Managing Ascendancy: Why Walk When You Can Run is a motivational book exploring avenues for people to take the journey to ascendancy in life in their chosen fields of activities. The book is on the theme that everyone has the potential to excel, provided he or she takes the right steps at right time with positive mindset. It provides enough insights into the dynamics so that the same can inspire people to take the journey to success. It possesses an abiding concern for a better deal in life that needs to be offered to the younger generation so as to enable it to steer through life with confidence and aplomb. The language as well as presentation of the book is good. The book has twenty-seven chapters covering a wide discussion on motivational themes which are helpful in building confidence within oneself. References have been made in the book highlighting the life stories of eminent people in the world regarding their efforts, determination, and above all guiding vision. The book includes an elaborate field study involving representative sections of middle to retired executives to offer credence to the facts how people look at the phenomenon of ascendancy in life. Hypotheses from renowned psychologists, behavioral scientists, and management consultants have been referred to in the deliberations to cross-check the author’s perspectives. The focus in the book is at working through life with the spirit to win.

About The Author

A.B. Kar has degrees in Mechanical Engineering from Jadavpur University, Kolkata, and Post-graduation from Strathclyde University, Glasgow. He has worked with Caterpillar Tractor Company, U.K., and Larsen & Toubro Ltd., India. He has also worked as an Adjunct Professor with IIT-Kharagpur in Maintenance Engineering & Management for a full Semester, teaching post-graduate students. He was actively associated with Professional Bodies in the U.K., U.S.A., and India during the professional phase of his life. He retired from active services in 2000 and took the job of writing. His published books include Behind the Bamboo Curtain, Knowledge Management: New Horizons, Modern Production Management, and Modern Manufacturing and Management Practices.
