The book covers the period of Rao’s premiership which is marked by the great Indian leap forward. It does not attempt to trace the life history of the great man but intends to illustrate the magnificence with which Rao managed a majority vote in the parliament and how he utilized that achievement to build prosperity for the Indian masses. It makes a humble evaluation of Rao’s administration spanning over 1991 to 1996 through a plain story telling on the greatness of a statesman and patriot who made history. The main question being dealt within the book is the economic liberalization initiated by Rao in June 1991. The shackled energies of the nation were for the first time unleased and these forces opened a new age in economic build up. The Kashmir question, the Khalistan movement, etc. have been discussed as the new achievements of Narasimha Rao, the new giant maker. India got an administration under Rao which was least expected from his little known rather isolated political life as a loyalist of the Nehru family.

N. Haridas has been a lawyer and a judge. A lawyer by profession, he is also a political commentator who has authored the books Rao and Nixon—Sinners Patriots (1998), Bush Refuses to Surrender (2003), and The Next India-China War: Near or Never (2016). N. Haridas is deeply involved in political research and strategic studies. An alumnus of University College, and Government Law College, Trivandrum, he has been writing on political and strategic issues and his latest attempt explores the relationship between democratic India and Communist China.
