Determined to become a renowned opera performer, he embarked on the earliest stages of his arduous training. Together with his childhood friends Huixin and Daxige, Mei would sneak out to watch performances behind his mentor's back. It was during these outings that he witnessed the brilliance of Tan Xinpei, the ""King of the Opera Stage,"" and observed senior artists persevering through illness to perform-embodying the professional ethos that ""to save a performance is like putting out a fire."" These experiences left a profound impression on young Mei, fueling his resolve to practice with even greater dedication.
