Mia Bear Is Finally Home is a heartfelt children's picture book about love, waiting, and the moment a child joins their family.
Follow Mama Bear and Papa Bear as they prepare their home, and their hearts, for a very special arrival. After a time of hoping and waiting, they finally welcome their little girl, Mia Bear, into their family. With warmth and gentle honesty, this story introduces adoption in a way that is simple, affirming, and full of love.
Beautifully illustrated and thoughtfully written, this book helps children understand that families are formed in many different ways, and that love is what makes a family. It offers a meaningful opportunity for parents, caregivers, and educators to begin conversations about belonging, identity, and connection.
Ideal for adopted children, families preparing to adopt, and classrooms exploring diverse family structures, Mia Bear Is Finally Home is both a comforting story and a supportive resource.
At its heart, this book carries a message every child deserves to hear:
You are loved. You are worthy. You are enough.
Dickerson, Mia: - Mia Dickerson is an adoption advocate, nonprofit founder, and a believer in the power of "forever families"-one of God's most beautiful gifts. Inspired by the steady faith and unwavering love of her mother, Margie Hampton, Mia learned early on that family is not defined by biology. Through Mia Bear Is Finally Home, she celebrates the beauty of adoption, not as a single moment but as a sacred journey rooted in patience, hope, trust, and unconditional love. Mia is dedicated to uplifting adoptive families and ensuring every child feels worthy, cherished, and secure. Above all, she hopes her stories remind children that home is not just where you live, but where love calls you.
Hampton, Margie: - "Margie Hampton was a pioneer in adoption advocacy and social work. In the 1980s, she founded one of the first adoption programs in Fairfax County, Virginia, focusing on placing children of color in loving, culturally aligned homes. Her compassion, leadership, and belief in every child's worth laid the foundation for the Enough Adoption Foundation, which Mia Dickerson established in 2025. Although she passed away in November 2003 after a battle with cancer, her legacy continues through her adult children's work - Mia's advocacy within the adoption community, Chadwick's impact in medicine, and Torrance's influence as an entrepreneur."
Ronquillo, Nadia: - Nadia Ronquillo is a children's book illustrator, visual development artist, and content creator from Ecuador. She majored in Graphic Design and Audiovisual Production. Right away, she started freelancing as a children's book illustrator and collaborating remotely as a visual development artist. For the past ten years, she has been helping self-published authors go from manuscript to PDF-ready for publication. For projects, please visit her website at www.nadiaronquilloart.com.
