She is an education program innovator. She leads the Growing Tall Poppies Science Partnership Program. The goal of her program is to increase the number of students, especially girls, studying science and particularly physics to year 12 and beyond. Barone-Nugent is authoring children's stories to make a practical contribution to support young children and parents in the pursuit of equal access for girls in science.

Curd, Eileen: - Eileen Curd is an Australian illustrator whose work combines warmth, clarity, and a playful visual style. With a background in both art and science education, she is particularly interested in creating illustrations that support children's learning and curiosity. Her illustrations for Stemmy the Witch and her Broostick bring narrative, imagination, and scientific ideas together, helping young readers engage with STEM concepts through story and character.
