Centr� sur le sport et sa diffusion, le Sportsman silencieux est de 1914 � 1934, l'un des porte-drapeaux pour l'�mancipation d'un groupe minoritaire face � la tutelle de la communaut� entendante. Il appara�t ainsi comme un outil de premier plan pour combattre les id�es re�ues dont les sourds sont encore porteurs dans la premi�re partie du XXe si�cle et les repr�sentations sociales d�sastreuses qui les stigmatisent comme des personnes anormales . Cette monographie retrace ainsi l'histoire de la France sportive des sourds-muets dans la premi�re partie du XXe si�cle et la naissance de l'Internationale sportive silencieuse en 1924, d'une minorit� en mouvement, non pas de personnes d�ficientes ou ayant des incapacit�s comme il est souvent pens� ou dit, mais d'une minorit� linguistique, trop longtemps infantilis�e par une soci�t� entendante, s�re de sa normalit� et peu ouverte � l'�gard de l'alt�rit� et de la diff�rence.

Séguillon, Didier: - Didier Séguillon a travaillé une décennie à l'Institut national de jeunes sourds de Paris. Promoteur-directeur de la revue internationale Surdités, spécialiste des Sciences et Techniques de l'Activité physique adaptée et des pratiques physiques, motrices ou sportives partagées, il est aujourd'hui maître de conférences (MCU), enseignant-formateur dans le domaine des STAPS à l'Université de Paris-Nanterre et chercheur habilité à diriger des recherches (HDR) au sein du Groupe de recherche sur le handicap, l'accessibilité, les pratiques éducatives et scolaires (Grhapes, EA 7287).
