Words that come to mind when thinking of Jorge Pinero include Vivacious and Vivere, one who lives life to the fullest. Whether its almost being mauled by a charging lion or enjoying a great African sunset, he does it all ... - Gunter Bierbaumer, Professional Hunter, Africa

This book is a snapshot of life in villages of the Luangwa Valley of Zambia and shows what residents deal with in human/wildlife interaction on a daily basis. The western world does not realize how things are here, and puts constant political pressure on wildlife management, creating issues in the lives of the Zambian people.

The accounts contained herein are factual and occurred in the mid-1990s. Through this book, I hope to enlighten the reader and show the need for laws regarding the conservation of African wildlife and habitat. It is my opinion that African countries should be the ones that make the laws and determine the practices for maintaining their wildlife conservation, because they would do this with an eye to how each law affects the human population within their countries.

This book also attempts to illustrate the reality of what happens when bans backed by so-called "green" organizations and pushed by western countries, primarily Europe and the United States. More often than not, these bans cause excessive poaching of wildlife and natural resources, which rather than stopping the loss of wildlife has the opposite effect and can lead to species extinction.

It is my goal to demonstrate why trophy hunting is a necessity in these rural African areas where other economic means for dealing with problem animals are not available. Fees paid by hunters also help to fund wildlife conservation and species repopulation efforts. As my additional contribution to these efforts, the profits from this and all other books in my Adventure series are earmarked for direct wildlife conservation in the wilds of Africa.
