The definitive guide to mountain adventure in the Canadian Rockies -- revised and updated.

With more than 50,000 copies sold, Scrambles in the Canadian Rockies has inspired a generation of outdoor enthusiasts to reach new heights. Now fully revised and updated, this classic guidebook returns with everything today's scramblers need to reach the summits of more than 175 peaks in the Rockies.

From Waterton Lakes in the south to Jasper in the north, Alan Kane covers a wide range of ascents -- from steep hikes to hands-on, low-grade climbs -- all accessible without ropes or technical climbing gear. Detailed route descriptions, clear directions, trailhead and parking info, and equipment tips are paired with photos and maps to help you reach the summit with confidence.

More than just a route guide, Kane's expert commentary includes historical tidbits, place name origins, and a touch of humour throughout. Whether you're a seasoned scrambler or a strong hiker ready for the next challenge, this book is your essential companion for unforgettable days in the high country.

Kane, Alan: - Alan Kane was born in Banff, Alberta, and grew up in Golden, British Columbia. In 1991 RMB published his original Scrambles guidebook, which to this day is almost solely responsible for the widespread popularity of non-technical mountain ascents, or scrambles, out West. When he isn't hiking or scrambling, Alan may be found wandering along streams pursuing his other passion, fly-fishing. Alan is married to his very tolerant wife, Diana, and lives in Calgary, Alberta.
