Bevor wir ein erstes (und letztes) Mal versuchen, die Aufgaben der Topologie zu formu- lieren, sollen einige Bemerkungen verdeutlichen, urn was es geht, wenn von einer Grund- struktur die Rede ist. Wenn sich der Student eines Tages entschlieBt, emsthaft Topologie zu lemen, ist er ihr liingst bei verschiedenen Gelegenheiten in seiner Ausbildung begegnet. Er beschiiftigt sich drum mit der "Grundstruktur" Topologie in einer Situation, in der das mathema- tische ProblembewuBtsein erheblich gereift ist und als Motivationshilfe herangezogen werden kann. Nun gibt es - und besonders die kiinftigen Lehramtskandidaten sollten dies bedenken - seit einigen Jahren im Zuge der "Neuen Mathematik" Bestrebungen, Topologie als eine Grundstruktur mathematischer Vorerfahrungen anzusehen. In Lehr- btichem fUr ABC-Schtitzen findet man ganze Abschnitte tiber Begriffe wie Inneres, Rand, offen, zusammenhiingend, Kurve oder Graph, die didaktische Literatur zur Primarstufe ist voll von Ratschliigen, wie man naive Vorstellungen vom Verbiegen, Strecken und Stauchen fUr den Unterricht nutzbar machen kann, und in jedem Buch zur Unterhal- tungsmathematik findet man Eulers Brtickenproblem und das Mobiusband.
