Durch geschickte Kombination mechani- scher, hydraulischer und elektrischer Bauelemente sind Maschinen ent- wickelt worden, die es gestatten, Massengtiter schnell und billig herzu- stellen. Ein wirtschaftliches Arbeiten dieser Einzweckmaschinen und TransferstraBen ist aber an sehr groBe Sttickzahlen gebunden. So trifft man oft die Meinung, daB ftir eine Automatisierung groBe Sttickzahlen un- erlaBlich sind. Das mag ftir die genannten Einzweckmaschinen und Trans- ferstraBen zutreffen. SolI auf ihnen ein Werksttick mit anderen Abmes- sungen hergestellt werden, so muB die Maschine mit erheblichem Zeitauf- wand umgerichtet, wenn nicht sogar in einzelnen Teilen umgebaut werden. Damit nun die Kosten fur dieses Umrichten, auf das Werkstuck bezogen, gering werden, muB eine groBe Menge gleichartiger Werkstticke gefertigt werden. Wori-n besteht nun das Umrichten einer Maschine? Zur Erzeugung der gewtinschten Form eines Werksttickes muB der Rohling auf einer genau vorgegebenen Bahn am Werkzeug oder umgekehrt vorbeigeftihrt werden. Diese Bahnen kennen aus Geraden, Kreisen oder sonstigen Kurvenztigen heherer Ordnung zusammengesetzt sein. SolI die Maschine selbsttatig diese vor- geschriebenen Bahnen nachfahren, so muB der Bewegungsablauf in ihr selbst festgehalten werden. Bei einem Revolverautomaten z.B. gehort zu jedem Werkzeug eine ganz bestimmte Arbeitstiefe, die durch Anschlage oder Endschalter einmal eingestellt wird. 1st diese Tiefe vom Werkzeug erreicht, so erfolgt der Rticklauf, der Werkzeugwechsel, und der neue Bearbeitungsvorgang beginnt. Dieses System, das die Arbeitsgange in der richtigen Reihenfolge bis zur eingestellten Tiefe ablaufen laBt, nennt man '1nformationsspeicher'.
