Das vor1iegende Buch entstand aus einem Skript zur Vor1esung "CAD-Hi1fsmitte1 zur Entwurfskontro11e hochinte- grierter Digita1scha1tungen". Diese Vor1esung wird seit 1983 von mir unter wissenschaft1icher Verantwortung von Herrn Prof. Dr.-Ing. R. W. Hartenstein geha1ten. Sie ist Bestandteil des Hauptstudiums Informatik der Universität Kaisers1autern. Neben einer gründ1ichen Überarbeitung wurde das Skript im wesent1ichen um zwei einführende Kapite1 ergänzt. Das erste gibt dem Leser in knapper Form einen Einstieg in die NMOS-Scha1tungstechnik. Dieses Kapite1 richtet sich insbesondere an zwei Leserschichten: Erstens den Informatiker, der CAD-Hi1fsmittel entwerfen wi1l und eine einfache Darste11ung der e1ektrotechnischen Hintergründe sucht. Der zweite Personenkreis sind Entwick1er e1ektronischer Scha1tungen, denen dieses Kapite1 a1s Einführung in den Entwurf kundenspezifischer Scha1tungen dienen kann. In beide Leserkreise beziehe ich auch Studenten der entsprechenden Fachrichtungen ein. Das Kapite1 geht bewu t nicht auf festkörperphysika1ische Einze1heiten und komp1izierte Transistormode11e ein. Es orientiert sich vie1mehr am bekannten' Lehrbuch "Introduction to VLSI Systems" von Carver Mead und Lynn Conway /9/. Ich bitte a11e Ha1b1eiter-Physiker und Techno1ogen, diese Abstraktion zu verzeihen. Das zweite Kapite1 gibt eine Übersicht über die verschiedenen Schritte, die von einer Scha1tungsidee bis zum fertigen Chip führen. Hier werden die verschi denen Betrachtungsebenen während der Entwurfsphase und die CAD-Werkzeuge, die in den verschiedenen Abstraktionsebenen zur Verfügung stehen, aUfgezeigt. In diesem Kapite1 werden die Grund1agen für einen strukturierten SChaltungsentwurf ge1egt, dessen grundsätz1iche Bedeutung ich im gesamten Buch hervorhebe. 6 Vorwort Kapitel 3 und 4 befassen sich mit zwei Schwerpunkten der Entwurfskontrolle integrierter Schaltungen. dem Design- Rule-Check und der Schaltkreisextraktion. Zu beiden Gebieten werden unterschiedliche Lösungsmöglichkeiten vorgestellt.
