Michaelis 1896 wurde an der hiesigen "Stadtischen Gewerbeschule" eine Maschinenbauschule mit vollem Tageskursus eroffnet. Das Frei- handzeichnen wiinschte der Direktor Herr Professor SCHUSTER von dem Unterzeichneten in dem Sinne behandelt zu sehen, wie in.. dem 1896 im Verlage von JULIUS SPRINGER erschienenen Buche: "Das Maschinenzeichnen" von A. RIEDLER, Professor an der Kgl. Tech- nischen Hochschule zu Berlin, gefordert wird. Damit war Zweck und Ziel bezeichnet, der Weg dahin aber mit gutem Bedacht freigelassen worden; muf3te doch fUr das Zeichnen nach Vorstellung, hier Zeichnen ohne Modell genannt, ein Weg iiberhaupt erst gefunden werden. In der vorliegenden Arbeit wird nunmehr geeigneter und ge- ordneter Stoff geboten und dazu gegeben, was an ersten Erfahrungen gewonnen wurde iiber systematisches pflichtmafiiges Freihand- zeichnen ohne Modelle. Denn hierin liegt der Schwerpunkt des Buches. Der Vollstandigkeit halber ist aueh das freie Zeichnen naeh Modell mit besprochen, doch so kurz als moglieh und z. T. aus dem Grunde, urn einem noeh mancherseits bestehenden Irrtume tiber die perspektivische Darstellung des Kreises zu wehren (S. 48-49). Der Weg, den ich mir mit Riicksicht auf mein Sch1ilermaterial, also angehende Techniker geschaffen, und die Art und Weise, die ich fUr das Unterriehten gewahlt habe, seien hiermit zur Erprobung und dem weiteren Ausbau iibergeben. Da es sich urn ein Unterrichts- gebiet handelt, des sen grof3e Bedeutung fUr aIle bauenden Berufe schon lange von den leitenden BehOrden, von Ingenieuren und von Kiinstlern erkannt ist, so diirfte dieses "Lehr- und Aufgabenbuch" ganz willkommen sein.
