Dielektrische Eigenschaften der Werkstoffe spielen in den verschiedensten Gebieten der Elektrotechnik eine ma gebliche Rolle. Als Beispiele seien Isolierstoffe, Imprägnierungen, Gie harze, Gläser, Keramik, Kunststoffe, Füllmaterial für Kondensatoren, Transformatorenöl genannt. Piezoelektrische Kristalle werden als Ultraschallschwinger oder als Frequenz- normal benutzt. Man kann daran denken, ferroelektrische Werk- stoffe als dielektrische Verstärker oder als Speicherelemente zu verwenden. Zur Temperaturkompensation in elektronischen Kreisen kann man die Temperaturabhängigkeit der Dielektrizi- tätskonstanten einiger Werkstoffe ausnutzen. Auf die Bedeutung der ferromagnetischen Werkstoffe für die allgemeine Elektrotechnik braucht an dieser Stelle nicht be- sonders hingewiesen zu werden. Speziell die Ferrite haben sich in HOChfrequenztechnik und Datenverarbeitung bewährt. Diese Fülle von Anwendungsmöglichkeiten macht es für den Elektrotechniker erforderlich, sich eingehender mit den physi- kalischen Mechanismen zu befassen, die das technische Verhal- ten dieser Werkstoffe bestimmen. Die Analogie zwischen dielek- trischen und magnetischen Eigenschaften legt es nahe, beide Stoffgruppen gemeinsam zu behandeln. Da ei werden die dielek- trischen Werkstoffe vorangestellt, weil sich dieses Verhalten in weit stärkerem Ma e mit klassischen Modellvorstellungen be- schreiben lä t als dies bei den magnetischen Werkstoffen der Fall ist. Soweit bei der letzten Stoffgruppe quantentheoreti- sche Überlegungen benötigt werden, seien die Resultate ohne weiteren Kommentar lediglich angegeben. Zur gewählten Darstellungsweise sei bemerkt, da eine quanti- tative Diskussion mögliChst einfacher Modellvorstellungen einer allgemeingültigen, aber weLiger anschaulichen formalen Behand- lung vorgezogen wird. Die Übungs aufgaben dienen nicht nur zur Vertiefung, Anwendung und Fortführung des im Text behandelten StOffes, sondern mitunter auch zu sei.ner Vorbereitung, so da gründliche Durcharbeitung und selbständige Diskussion zum Ver- ständnis unerlä lich sind.
