Das vorliegende Buch beschreibt den Aufbau einer elektronischen Rechenanlage. Es setzt keine speziellen Vorkenntnisse voraus. Es werden die wichtigen Baugruppen eines Com- puters besprochen, wobei besonderer Wert auf der ausführlichen Beschreibung der Bedeutung und Wirkungsweise der einzelnen Teile liegt. Die üblichen Konstruktionen werden betrachtet, und ein Spezialfall wird detailliert wiedergegeben. Auf die Besprechung elektronischer Fragen wird bewu t verzichtet, denn gerade diese unter- liegen durch den technischen Fortschritt einem sehr schnellen Wandel. Aus diesem Grunde hält sich der Text an die Abgrenzung des Fachgebietes "Informatik". Fast alle Kapitel sind aus Vorlesungen entstanden. Das näher beschriebene Gerät ist für Ausbil- dungszwecke an einer Fachhochschule gebaut worden. Es ist einerseits geplant für Proze steue- rungen, wird aber andererseits auch Compiler für höhere Programmiersprachen aufnehmen können. Der Text ist gedacht als vorlesungsbegleitendes Lehrbuch an Fachhochschulen und Universitäten und für das Selbststudium. Sein Stoff bekommt insbesondere Bedeutung für die gerade jetzt ent- stehenden Studiengänge in Informatik. Dabei wurde wegen des einführenden Charakters des Buches besonderer Wert auf Verständlichkeit des Textes und auf Praxisnähe auch in den Details gelegt. Wer wegen vorhandener Vorkenntnisse oder für einen ersten Überblick einige Abschnitte über- schlagen möchte, findet am Anfang der neun Kapitel jeweils eine kurze Inhaltsangabe.
