Besonders in der Starkstromtechnik lassen sich mit ihr auch heute noch viele Kontrollen durchführen. Da in der Informationselektrik die Variation von Spannung Imd Strom grö er ist, mu te man schon früher zur Instrumentenanzeige übergehen. Heute wird das Vielfachinstrument sowohl in der Schwach. stromtechnik als auch in der Starkstromtechnik für viele Messungen und Prüfungen eingesetzt. Ungeeignet ist das Vielfachinstrument bei hochohmigen Me kreisen und sehr kleinen Me werten sowie bei den von der Sinusform abweichenden Wechsel. und Impulsgrö en. Als das für Impuls., Kurvenform-, Frequenz-, Zeit- und Phasen winkelmessungen auf allen Gebieten der Naturwissenschaft, Medizin und Technik am besten geeignete Me -, Prüf- und Kontrollgerät hat sich der Elektronenstrahl- Oszillograf (EO) bewährt. Das gilt sowohl für kurzzeitige und periodische als auch für langsam und einmalig ablaufende Vorgänge. Da Oszillograf Schwingungsschreiber bedeutet und der Einsatz des EO vorwiegend als Sichtgerät erfolgt, ist auch die Bezeichnung "Oszilloskop" gebräuchlich. Der EO ersetzt auf Grund seines hochohmigen Me einganges und seiner Me verstärker ein Röhrenvoltmeter, d. h., er eignet sich sowohl zur Messung an hochohmigen Me objekten als auch zur Anzeige kleiner Me werte. Als Signal verfolger in impuls verarbeitenden Geräten und Anlagen ist ihm kein anderes Me - oder Registriergerät gleichwertig. Besondere Bedeutung hat er deshalb in der Automatisierungstechnik erlangt. Das unter Beweis zu stellen, soll mit die Aufgabe dieses Bandes sein.
