Bei etwa 180 000 Rollstuhl-Benutzern besteht in der Bundesrepublik Deutschland ein jährlicher Bedarf an ca. 50 000 handbetriebenen Rollstühlen. Unter diesen hat der Greifreifenrollstuhl einen Anteil von 85 %. Aufgabe der vorliegenden Untersuchung war die ergonomische Gestaltung des Antriebssystems am Greifreifenrollstuhl, wobei eine Minderung der Beanspruchung des Rollstuhl-Benutzers und eine Erhöhung der Leistung des Mensch-Rollstuhl-Systems angestrebt wurde. Ausgehend von den lokalisierten Beanspruchungsengpässen wurden die Gestaltungsparameter sowie deren Ausprägungen festgelegt und anhand von Arbeitshypothesen begründet. Unter der Voraussetzung eines gegebenen Antriebswiderstandes wurde eine umfassende Gestaltung der ergonomisch relevanten Konstruktionsparameter am Antriebssystem des Greifreifenrollstuhls angestrebt. Schwerpunkt der umfangreichen versuchstechnischen Entwicklungen war der Bau eines Rollstuhl-Simulators, der die Variation der Gestaltungsparameter, die Simulation von Fahraufgaben und die Erfassung der Beurteilungsgrö en ermöglichte. Aufgrund der dargestellten Versuchergebnisse konnten für den Rollstuhlbau und die Rollstuhlversorgung Empfehlungen zu ergonomisch günstiger Lage, Durchmesser und Schwenkung des Greifreifens, zur optimalen Getriebeübersetzung sowie zu weiteren wichtigen technischen Details gegeben werden.
