Hierzu gehort die ausfiihrliche Behandlung des gegenwartigen Standes der technologischen Kunststoffpriifung, wie er im zweiten Band ge- schildert ist, aber auch eine umfassende Darstellung des physikalischen Ver- haltens der Kunststoffe im Zusammenhang mit ihrem strukturellen Aufbau und den molekularen Vorgangen in den betrachteten Stoffen, wie dies im ersten Band versucht wird. Dabei sind auch die der Strukturforschung dienenden physika- lischen Untersuchungsmethoden und deren Ergebnisse zu behandeln. Die chemischen Grundlagen konnen in diesem Zusammenhang knapp zusammen- gefaBt und auf das Notwendigste beschrankt werden. Es muB naturgemaB in einer solchen Darstellung die Diskrepanz In Er- scheinung treten, die zur Zeit noch zwischen dem Stand der Kenntnis von Struktur und physikalischem Verhalten einerseits und deren Anwendung beispiels- weise in der praktischen Kunststoffpriifung andererseits besteht. Es solI nicht zuletzt Aufgabe dieses Buches sein, dem Techniker das notwendige Wissen zu vermitteln, um diese Diskrepanz vermindern zu helfen. Die Bedeutung der Ergebnisse der Strukturforschung fiir Anwendung und Priifung der Kunststoffe wird in sehr allgemeiner Form imersten Kapitel heraus- gestellt, das den eigentlichen Sachkapiteln dieses ersten Bandes vorangestellt wurde. Die nachsten beiden Kapitel behandeln die strukturellen Grundlagen.
