Por isso, foi feita uma investiga��o para verificar os n�veis de Hg no cabelo das pessoas que vivem na regi�o de Terai, no norte da �ndia. Amostras de cabelo foram coletadas de 111 pessoas e colocadas em sacos pl�sticos identificados, grampeados para evitar que os fios se movessem. As amostras foram analisadas por combust�o, am�lgama de ouro e espectrometria de absor��o at�mica (C-GA-AAS). O n�vel m�dio de Hg no cabelo foi de 0,28 g/g para todo o grupo, variando de 0,0012 a 1,9091 g/g. Os n�veis m�dios de Hg no cabelo foram de 0,16 g/g para os homens e 0,12 g/g para as mulheres, indicando que os homens tinham n�veis mais elevados de Hg no cabelo do que as mulheres. 97% da amostra total tinha concentra��es de Hg no cabelo inferiores a 1,0 g/g, ou seja, dentro da dose segura, enquanto apenas 3% tinha concentra��es de Hg superiores a 1,0 g/g, excedendo assim a dose segura. O Hg deve ser observado continuamente para os n�veis de Hg no cabelo e a sa�de.
