Sogleich nach der Grundung des Arbeitskreises fur industrielle Energiewirtschaft im Rahmen des unter der Leitung von Generaldirektor a. D. Univ.-Prof. Baurat h. c. Dipl.-Ing. DOOr. Ludwig MUSIL stehenden Beirats fUr sinnvollen Energie- einsatz beim Bundesministerium fUr Handel, Gewerbe und Industrie im Jahr 1974 haben dessen Beratungen ergeben, daB es, urn das reale Potential an Einsparungs- moglichkeiten an Energie im industriellen Bereich in Osterreich festzustellen, not- wen dig ist, eine repdisentative Erhebung durchzufUhren, deren Umfang sich auf die warmeintensiven Industriezweige beschranken kann. Es bestand von vornherein Einvernehmen daruber, daB die DurchfUhrung dieser Erhebung dem Osterreichi- schen Energiekonsumentenverband anvertraut werden soil. Nach sorgfaltiger Vorbereitung dieser Arbeit ist es im Jahre 1976 gelungen, die fi- nanzielle Basis fUr deren DurchfUhrung durch eine Beteiligung der Bundeskammer der gewerblichen Wirtschaft und der Vereinigung Osterreichischer Industrieller zu finden. Die Studie wurde Ende 1978 als abgeschlossen betrachtet, nachdem die Of- fentlichkeit iiber deren Fortschritt durch zwei Zwischenberichte des Beirats infor- miert wurde und die interessierte Fachwelt dariiber hinaus in zwei Prasentationen, die im Osterreichischen Ingenieur-und Architektenverein in Wi en stattfanden, Ge- legenheit zu ausfUhrlichen Diskussionen iiber die angewendeten Methoden und die erzielten Ergebnisse erhalten hatte. Zu dies em Zeitpunkt war es aber allen Beteiligten klar, daB sich durch die dramati- schen Veranderungen vor allem auf dem Energiesektor viele Bedingungen der- maBen gewandelt hatten, daB eine neuerliche Uberarbeitung dieser Stu die fUr die VerOffentlichung notwendig erschien.
