Seit dem Jahre 1947 werden im Institut fiir Markscheidewesen der Berg- akademie Clausthal unter Leitung von Prof. O. RELLENSrIANN kreisel- technische Forschungs- und Entwicklungsarbeiten betrieben. Diese haben bis zum Beginn der in der vorliegenden Arbeit beschriebenen Untersu- chungen zu drei Typen von Vermessungskreiselkompassen gefiihrt. Die beiden zuerst entwickelten Typen wurden von der KreiselmeBstelle der Abteilung Markscheidewesen del' Westfalischen Berggewerkschafts- kasse Bochum durchkonstruiert und unter der Bezeichnung Meridianweiser (MW) laufend im Ruhrkohlenbergbau fiir untertagige Richtungswinkelbe- stimmungen eingesetzt. Der z.Z. verwendete zweite Typ hat seiner Auf- gabe entsprechend folgende charakteristische Merkmale: Das Kernstiick, die Einkreiselkugel, wird wie beim Anschiitzschen Schiffs- kreiselkompaB durch Fliissigkeitsauftrieb getragen und horizontiert und durch eine Spule elektromagnetisch innerhalb der geratefesten Hiill- kugel zentriert. Die Stromiibertragung erfolgt elektrolytisch von drei Graphitelektroden der Hiillkugel iiber die schwach angesauerte Tragefliissigkeit auf drei gegeniiberliegende Graphitelektroden der Kreiselkugel. Die Richtung wird optisch durch Autokollimatio abgenommen. Das Gerat ist robust gebaut, transportsicher und schlagwettergeschiit t. Mit einer luftgefiillten Kreiselkugel hat das Gerat eine Leistungsauf- nahme von ca. 240 W. Als Energiequelle dient ein schlagwettersicherer Druckluft-Turbo- Generator von 2 kW. Der dritte Typ ist das Clausthaler Laborgerat Wie es der Laborbetrieb naturgemaB mit sich bringt, - sind an diesem Gerat wiederholt Anderungen und Experimente vorgenommen worden, so daB es in seinem auBeren Aufbau einen labormaBigen Charakter aufweist. Seine Hauptmerkmale nach dem Stande von 1955 sind: Die Einkreiselkugel wird durch Fliissigkeitsauftrieb getragen und durch eine Bandhangung zentriert. Hiillkugel und Blasspule sind nicht vorhan- den.
