डॉ. सैयद जहूर कासिम नशेनल इंस्टीट्टयू ऑफ ओशनोग्राफी के निदेशक थे और उन्हें 1981 में भारत सरकार के पर्यावरण विभाग क संस्थापक सचिव नियक्तु किया गया था। 1982 में, उन्होंने महासागर के नव स्थापित विभाग के सचिव के रूप में कार्यभार संभाला। डॉ. कासिम ने दिसंबर 1981 में अंटार्कटिका के भारत के पहले अभियान का नेतृत्व किया और 1988 तक सात अन्य अभियानों को सफलतापूर्वक संगठित और निर्देशित किया। ‘ओशन मैन ऑफ इंडिया’ और ‘अंटार्क टिका हीरो’ के नाम से के रूप में चुने गए। उन्होंने कु लगुरू, जामिया मिलिया इस्लामिया के सदस्य, योजना आयोग, भारत सरकार के पद भी आयोजित किए हैं। डॉ. कासिम को यूके के महासागर अंतर्राष्ट्रीय लाइफटाइम अचीवमेंट अवार्ड, पद्म भूषण और पद्मश्री का भारत सरकार द्वारा कई राष्ट्रीय और अतंर्राष्ट्रीय परुस्कारों से सम्मानित किया गया है उनसे संपर्क किया जा सकता हैं| Dr Syed Zahoor Qasim was the Director of the National Institute of Oceanography and was appointed as the founder Secretary in the Department of Environment, Government of India, in 1981. In 1982, he took over as the Secretary of the newly established Department of Ocean Development. Dr Qasim led India’s First Expedition to Antarctica in December 1981 and successfully organised and guided seven other expeditions till 1988. Known as the Ocean Man of India and an ‘Antarctica Hero’, he was elected as the General President of Indian Science Congress Association. He has also held the positions of Vice-Chancellor Jamia Milia Islamia and Member, Planning Commission, Government of India. Dr Qasim has been awarded several National and International Awards including Oceanology International Lifetime Achievement Award of UK and the Padma Shri and Padma Bhushan by the Government of India. डॉ. दीनबंधू साहू 1987-88 के दौरान अंटार्क टिका के सातवें भारतीय वैज्ञानिक अभियान में अंटार्क टिका जाने वाले पहले भारतीय छात्र थे। उन्होंने अठारह महीने के रिकॉर्ड समय के भीतर सभी सात महाद्वीपों और पाचं महासागरों का दौरा किया है उन्होंने आर्कटिक में दो यात्राएं की। वह स्मिथसोनियन इंस्टीट्शयू न, वाशिगं टन डीसी, आईएनएसए-जेएसपीएस के साथ-साथ जापान में भी एक अतिथि साथी थे, और उन्होंने बड़े पैमाने पर यात्रा की है। वह समुद्री विज्ञान के क्षेत्र में अनेक उत्कृष्ट योगदान के लिए राष्ट्रीय पर्यावरण विज्ञान अकादमी, भारत मे पुरस्कार सहित कई पुरस्कार प्राप्तकर्ता हैं। डॉ साहू ने “चिलिका: द अनकॉल्ड स्टोरी” नामक एक वृत्तचित्र निर्देशित किया। वह कई अतं रराष्ट्रीय और राष्ट्रीय निकायों के सदस्य हैं और कई प्रकाशनों को लिखा है वह विभिन्न ग्रामीण विकास कार्यक्रमों के लिए विज्ञान और प्रौद्योगिकी के अनुप्रयोग में सक्रिय रूप से शामिल है और भारत के चुनिदंा बीस सामाजिक उद्यमियों में मान्यता प्राप्त है वर्तमान में वह बॉटनी विभाग, दिल्ली विश्वविद्यालय में एक संकाय सदस्य हैं।Dr Dinabandhu Sahoo was the First Indian Student to visit Antarctica during 1987-88 in the Seventh Expedition. He has visited all the seven continents and five oceans within a record time of eighteen months. He undertook two trips to the Arctic. He was a visiting fellow at the Smithsonian Institution, Washington DC, INSA-JSPS visiting fellow, Japan and has travelled extensively. He is the recipient of several awards including the award from National Environmental Science Academy, India for his outstanding contribution in the field of Marine Science. Dr Sahoo directed a documentary titled “Chilika: The Untold Story”. He is member of several international and national bodies and has authored many publications. He has been actively involved in the application of Science and Technology for various rural development programmes and has been recognised amongst the select twenty social entrepreneurs of India. Presently, he is a faculty member at the Department of Botany, University of Delhi.
