This book rethinks the encounters between Morocco and the West by exploring the ideological and historical foundations of the discursive shifts in Anglo-American travel writing on Morocco. Four paradigm shifts are explored in the book: national(ist), secular, transnational and imperial - to reveal the diversity of this genre.

Sadik Rddad is Professor of English and Cultural Studies at Sidi Mohamed ben Abdellah University, Fez. He teaches Cultural Studies, Postcolonial Studies, and Sufism, and he has published many articles in these fields. He was previously awarded a Joint-Supervision Doctorate Grant by the Moroccan American Commission for Educational and Cultural Exchange (Fulbright). He is a founding member of the Moroccan Cultural Studies Center.
