""Travels in the Interior of Africa"" is a two-volume travelogue written by Scottish explorer Mungo Park. The book chronicles Park's two journeys into the interior of West Africa in the late 18th century, during which he sought to chart the course of the Niger River and explore the region's geography, culture, and economy. Park's accounts of his encounters with African peoples, including the Mandinka, Bambara, and Fulani, provide a detailed and often sympathetic portrayal of their customs and traditions. The book also includes vivid descriptions of the African landscape, wildlife, and climate, as well as Park's own struggles with illness, hunger, and hostile tribes. ""Travels in the Interior of Africa"" remains a classic work of African exploration and a valuable historical document of the era of European colonialism.The Mandingoes and, I believe, the negroes in general, have no artificial method of dividing time. They calculate the years by the number of rainy seasons. They portion the year into moons, and reckon the days by so many suns. The day they divide into morning, midday, and evening; and farther subdivide it, when necessary, by pointing to the sun's place in the heavens.This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
