The author shares some of his encounters with real-life crime from when he worked as a crime reporter on the daily newspapers. Accompany him to gruesome road and train accidents. Be there as he watches criminals and angry mobs burn down drug lords' houses. Accompany him when he's looking for missing children. Be among the first to arrive at an eerie scene, late night on a city street, where a prominent international gangster died in a hail of bullets. Join him as he interviews a glamorous, evasive millionaire couple who are on the FDA/FBI's Most Wanted Fugitives List. The book also offers the reader a unique glimpse into the world of competitive news gathering and the workings of an old-fashioned newsroom, when these were still staffed by the eccentric, dark-humoured, off-beat types known as newsmen and women.

The author worked as a journalist in South Africa during the Apartheid years as well as after the country became a democracy in 1994. Much of his 20 plus years working in the media industry was spent as a crime reporter at the daily newspapers. He is an experienced, all-round newsman, having worked many different news beats and a variety of production editor roles, including night editor (content manager). The son of a detective and a newspaper woman, Marius was born in Pretoria, South Africa, in 1964. He studied the 3-year National Diploma in Journalism at the Pretoria Technikon (Tshwane University of Technology). He worked seven years as a radio newsreader and current affairs presenter/producer. He lives in Scotland with his family, Clare, Jack and Quinn.
