Expose describes in some detail links to the '63 JFK assassination & this town & subsequent events including John Lennon's murder, the election of Bill Clinton.1988 semi satirical book I wrote. In 1976 I had met a graduate, so called, of the local Church of Scientology named Martin H. who's parents lived across the street from the very old state mental asylum. This was the suburb of Eastwood which was a name change from Parkside 60s, made due to political considerations. Martin was a successful heroin dealer, then aged 16 or 17, with clients all over Adelaide. I was not interested in becoming one of them. His father, Gordon was a TV antenna installation man working Rank Arena. Strangely enough in 1973 Yoko Ono had recorded a song called Marbury which happened to be the name of the very small street opposite Martin's home that went into the very old state asylum. It was also the name of a private school in the hills set up to cater for children with serious learning difficulties. Martin's mother Jean ran a raw foods veggie shop in the city named Cranks. Both parents were very accepting that Martin was dealing drugs and knew so many people. Your author had graduated with a university degree in 1975, which some believe is a "degree away from Christ" but such people are mainly occultists or the old school variety. One of the only reasons I'd enrolled in a university course was because a new Socialist government had come to power and all courses were free; the only cost burden was the Student Union. Of course the university had no facilities for the large influx of new students. The only food obtainable on campus was boiled rice!Films were shown every Friday afternoon, such as The Godfather, very commercial and to the point as a new Premier named Don had also come into office that same year. One course I found interesting was American Literature, which enabled me to read poetry and novels from 100 and more years ago.On the campus the National Organization for Reform of Marijuana laws had hundreds of posters advertising themselves as NORMAL but there were none in the nearby city; it was believed that as no fees were payable students would have extra cash to spend on the Holy Herb. Thus in 1972 my tutor Jack Barbalet, gave me a brown paper bag of home grown weed and suggested I smoke it and write an essay about the experience! Three weeks later I handed in my work, which said I was not impressed by the stuff but could understand why others might use it as it was partially relaxing and stimulated the appetite.By second year I'd met some new people, such as Sandy Ellis and Gabriel Kelly and Rosie Page. Sandy's namesake was used many years later as Socialist Senator Kate Ellis. It would seem that while the university courses were all "free" some reciprocal arrangement was in place so that the "party" could benefit from your time. The politics course for example had hundreds of enrollments, where as my American lit course had less than 7! I created and edited a poetry magazine named, Dark Areas, meaning erogenous zones. We had a couple hundred copies mimeographed every edition, which was at best once in six months, 10 - 20 pages in length .By 1975 and graduation, I had had enough of the academic life and postponed Post Graduate research saying I'd do it when I was feeling confident I'd located something worth writing about. That was accepted. I was introduced to the Maharishi T.M. movement by an alcoholic who lived on Cross Road after he claimed that while I was visiting Carol, his wine had turned to water. He swore it had happened and thought it meant that I was "stressed up" and so gave me the address for the local T.M. place. They were situated 2 streets from where I'd lived with Carol when on Christmas Day a cyclone they named Tracy wiped an entire city off the map named Darwin. When I mentioned it to the teacher he said it was "natural law."
