Gary Ridgway A.K.A. "The Green River Killer" or "The Green River Strangler", is a necrophiliac and ephebophilic serial killer one of the most infamous criminals in American history. For more than two decades, Ridgway terrorized Washington state, evading police while committing more than 48 grisly murders, although the actual number of his crimes was over 90. He carefully selected his victims, many of them vulnerable teenagers dedicated to prostitution. He kidnapped, tortured and strangled them to death. He scattered his bodies in remote areas, turning the case into an enigma for law enforcement. His ability to lead a seemingly normal life while perpetrating these crimes made him a master of deception.
Ridgway's capture in 2001 marked the end of one of the longest and most complex manhunts in crime history. Using advanced DNA technologies, investigators were finally able to link him to the murders that had left a trail of pain and mystery in his community. His 2003 confession, where he admitted to killing at least 48 women, revealed chilling details about his meticulous method and his absolute coldness. This revelation shook the nation and brought some closure to the victims' families, although the scars of his reign of terror linger.
