Brenda Keller had it all.

The beloved 12-year-old daughter of the town pastor in tiny Dover, Kansas, she was pretty, smart, and kind. She loved God, family, friends, animals, nature, and riding her bike. That all changed on Oct. 19, 1991, when she was abducted, raped, and murdered by a man who should have been behind bars.

Her grisly death stunned the quintessential small town in Kansas and robbed a community of its innocence. Her family relied on faith to overcome the overwhelming sadness and despair, ultimately living rich, rewarding lives to honor God and their "Strawberry."

Ernie W. Webb III, who grew up 15 minutes from Dover, weaves a riveting tale of good and evil in his debut book. In Goodbye, Butterfly he details Brenda's idyllic upbringing and her murderer's gut-wrenching childhood. Their collision resulted in one of the worst crimes in the state's history, one that angered a grieving town, revealed flaws in the legal system, and left numerous questions unanswered.

Webb, Ernie W.: - Ernie W. Webb III, a best selling, award-winning writer and author, is a native Missourian who has lived most of his life in Kansas, he has a bachelor's degree in mass media and a Master of Liberal Studies with an emphasis in journalism from Washburn University. Webb's passion for reading began as a child, as he pored through the local newspaper and "Sporting News" magazine for box scores and stories about his beloved Kansas City Royals and Chiefs. The love for all things sports became a career in newspapers, including stints as a beat reporter, copy editor, columnist and editor in Kansas, Texas, Virginia and Oklahoma. Webb left the news business in 2010 and has worked in higher education for 13 years, including 11 as a media relations specialist and director of marketing at his alma mater (Go Bods!). His writing covers an array of topics, including true crime, sports, and his late father. Webb lives in Topeka, KS with his goddess of a wife, children and two divas disguised as cats.
