Road to Redemption is the non-fictional story of an author's relentless pursuit of justice, and full vindication. After being wrongfully arrested and maliciously prosecuted for murder, Dameon K. Wroe is finally breaking his silence to tell the public the truthful version about what happened on the night of January 1, 2004 while working at an upscale apartment complex in Rancho Cucamonga, California. Working as an armed security officer on the night of the incident, a Rancho Cucamonga man was fatally shot by Wroe, after he twice tried to run Wroe over with his pick-up truck to avoid being arrested for Assault With a Deadly Weapon. The San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department Detective Bureau thoroughly investigated the shooting and determined that Wroe's actions were justifiable homicide in self-defense. For reasons that many have described as unjust, malicious, and retaliatory, the San Bernardino County District Attorney's Office unfairly prosecuted Dameon K. Wroe anyway. Though Wroe's then attorney, Donald J. Calabria, completely destroyed the prosecution's murder case, resulting in a not guilty verdict, Wroe was ultimately railroaded into taking a plea deal for involuntary manslaughter. With a remarkable and transparent demonstration of faith and courage, Wroe also describes a 1995 case where he was falsely arrested by LAPD detectives out of Van Nuys, and wrongfully charged with two counts of armed robbery that he had no knowledge of. Though the district attorney's office in that case had evidence that pointed towards Wroe's innocence, the district attorney ignored it and prosecuted him anyway. Donald J. Calabria also represented Wroe in the malicious 1995 robbery case, in which the jury unanimously acquitted him of all charges. To date, Dameon K. Wroe remains prayerful that "Road to Redemption" will eventually land in the hands of state and local law makers who will reform current laws, policies, and tactics that district attorneys systematically use to target Black men and other people of color for malicious and wrongful prosecutions that ultimately lead to wrongful convictions. On the back cover of the book, the author offers a heart-felt dedication to Black men around the nation who have also been wrongfully, maliciously, and unjustly arrested for crimes that they never committed, as technological advancements in DNA testing is continuing to prove. Wroe, Dameon K.: - "Dameon K. Wroe is an African American author who has been writing professionally for more than 24 years, since publishing his first book, "True Inspirations - A Poetry Collection, Vol. I," back in May of 2000. Though he may not be considered by many to have a large social media following, make no mistake about it, Dameon K. Wroe is a profound writer and speaker, with a command presence that is not easily shaken. After a short career with Capitol Records back in the early '90s, Dameon Wroe used the lessons he learned in the entertainment industry to start writing books, while still moonlighting as a songwriter for an independent record label. After taking a big step back from continuing his pursuit in the music business, Dameon K. Wroe fell back on his childhood dream of getting into law enforcement. While doing so, Wroe found himself working as a private security officer over an intermittent span of 11 years for various security companies. As a former security officer, Wroe worked uniformed and undercover assignments at Universal Studios Hollywood. During his time there, Wroe rapidly earned a name for himself as being one of the most highly skilled security officers in the company. During his time with Universal Studios Hollywood, and other subsequent security employers, Wroe made numerous felony arrests for crimes such as carjacking, commercial burglary, burglary from motor vehicle, assault with a deadly weapon, and even armed robbery. While employed at Universal Studios Hollywood, Dameon Wroe received undercover surveillance style training from retired detectives of the LAPD SIS Unit. This specialized unit was hired to come into the entertainment center to train security officers who were members of the SPU Team (Special Problems Unit), in which Wroe was a member who was hand-picked by corporate security executives to be a part of. Prior to getting involved in the private security arena, Dameon Wroe successfully graduated from the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Deputy Explorer Program, in Whittier, California, where he received training and experience that pushed him closer to becoming a peace officer as a young adult. That training he received from the explorer program saved his life on several occasions. By June of 2000, Wroe was working as an armed security officer at a neighborhood movie theater while still taking active steps to apply for the police department. During his shift at the theater, Wroe witnessed an armed robbery take place by a gunman who jumped out of the passenger seat of a vehicle and demanded the wallet and purse of two movie theater patrons in the parking lot. While attempting to stop the suspects from fleeing, the armed robbery suspects began shooting at Wroe with a 12-gauge shotgun, and Wroe relentlessly returned fire. The two suspects were quickly apprehended by authorities after a short vehicle pursuit, and were subsequently sent to prison for armed robbery and attempted murder."
