Extremely unusual live theater disaster. The town's Mayor-Manager plays a leading role in the new play: Not Exactly My Dear. His on stage homicide designed to look as a scripted suicide sends a recently retired 8th grade teacher on a new venture; to find the killer and bring him/her to justice. The intricacies of local folks' relationships is exposed revealing their ambitions and character faults. It's a study in real character, demonstrating the desires, hidden and otherwise among the townspeople. A second killing, that of the Town Manager's personal secretary further confounds the populace. All is not well in the culmination of final thoughts and suspicions, some of which remain with the reader.

Roger K. Freeman has found his long awaited vocation, that of writing. He says he was always pretty good at the use of the language, but only recently, [this is his fourth book], has taken the time to exercise his desire to write. In approaching 90 years of age Roger is delighted to retain the ability to express himself in a manner others enjoy. By his own admission he is well read and never denies that reading has lifted him to the level of writer. His books deal within the present. His interests range widely from political intrigue to matters of the heart and certainly those of religion. He embraces a love of mankind and hopes his writings express those characteristics.
