About The Book

Reader's Favorite True Crime 2022, The Evil I Have Seen is a collection of six murder cases that haunt the memories of retired Detective Lt. Robert (Robbo) Davidson. Awakened night after night by the ghost of some murder victims hovering in the darkness over his bed, denying him sleep, Robbo resolves to tell their stories. To lend these victims a voice, for better or worse. "I think if I do not, the evil I have seen may never let me sleep," the detective writes. Each story is based on his actual case files as a deputy for the DeSoto Parish Sheriff's Department between 1981 and 2014. These stories were compiled by combining Robbo's memories with witness statements, trial transcripts, and interviews with the people involved. Robbo even traveled to Louisiana prisons, interviewing men he helped convict, to elicit their memories of the crimes.

About The Author

Davidson, Robert (robbo): - Detective Lt. Robert (Robbo) Davidson retired in 2014 from the DeSoto Parish Sheriff's Department after a 40-year career. Detective Lt. Robert "Robbo" Davidson retired in 2014 after working forty years in Louisiana law enforcement, beginning as an undercover narcotics agent during the 1970s. He later worked as an investigator for the 11th Judicial District of Louisiana before joining the DeSoto Parish Sheriff's Department, where he worked drug and homicide investigations for thirty-three years.For more than a decade, Davidson was appointed to advise the Louisiana Sheriff's Association on proposed legislation affecting criminal justice. He has served on the Louisiana Commission on Law Enforcement and Department of Criminal Justice for twenty-four years.He has worked with Louisiana legislators to promote Jeff's Law, creating a statewide database and alert system to enhance protections for adults with disabilities in honor of the memory of Jeff Rogers, whose story is included in the collection.

Jones, P. J.: - P.J. Jones retired in 2013 after a lengthy career in journalism. As a fierce advocate for open government, her news department at KTXS-TV in Abilene, Texas received the Sunshine Award from the Society of Professional Journalists for open records investigations, one of which exposed the coverup of abusive hazing practices of rookie firefighters. Another documented shoddy building practices of a state prison, which resulted in one building being razed and rebuilt. Jones served on the board of directors of the Freedom of Information Foundation of Texas before accepting a position in television news management in Birmingham, Alabama. There, she coordinated with the University of Alabama and state legislators to help create the Alabama Center for Open Government.She is working with Davidson in development of Jeff's Law.
