DCI Barns, strafversetzt aus London nach Devonhall, und sein Kollege, DI Peter Ashton ermitteln in Uptown Shire. Die Spurenlage ist verwirrend. Schlie lich deutet doch alles auf ein Tötungsdelikt hin. Schritt für Schritt müssen sich Barns und Ashton an den Täter herantasten. Ein klares Motiv ist nicht zu erkennen. Au erdem fehlt die Leiche und ohne Leiche kein Mord. DCI Barns, auch die "Bulldogge" genannt, folgt hartnäckig seinem Spürsinn und findet den Täter. Aber es kommt anders als er denkt. Es soll hier nicht nur der Tathergang und die Aufklärung erzählt werden. Um zu zeigen, dass jeder Mensch ein Täter sein kann, wird sehr auf die Psychologie des Mörders eingegangen und macht deutlich, wie nah der Schritt in den Abgrund sein kann.

About The Author

Agatha Cross wurde 1956 in West-Deutschland geboren. Sie lebt heute mit Ehemann und Hunden in einem kleinen Dorf im Landkreis Cuxhaven. Bereits mit 11 Jahren schrieb sie kurze Kriminalromane mit den klingenden Titeln: "Die Tote im Kühlschrank", "Die Tote in der Bibliothek", "Mord auf Schloss Walgrave". Sie bewies damals schon verkäuferisches Talent, indem sie ihre Werke für 50 Pfennig an Mitschüler verkaufte. Diese Tatsache brachte ihr dann auch den Ärger mit der Schuldirektorin ein. Auch die Deutschlehrerin war "not amused" und schrieb unter fast jeden Aufsatz: Du hast zu viel Phantasie. Als junge Mutter schrieb sie eine Fabel, die sie, allen Mut zusammennehmend, an Astrid Lindgren schickte. Sie erhielt sogar eine Antwort: Fabeln sind nicht meine Welt. Aber schön geschrieben. Nicht aufgeben, weitermachen. Als selbstständige Kauffrau lernte sie viele Menschen und damit auch die unterschiedlichsten Charaktere kennen. Auch das Leben in einem Dorf ließ sie in menschliche Abgründe schauen. Dort findet sie auch die Vorbilder für ihre Romanfiguren. Warum in die Ferne schauen - das Gute oder Böse liegt so nah! Viele Jahre fehlte ihr die Zeit zu schreiben. Und erst Recht der Mut, an die Öffentlichkeit zu gehen. Das soll sich jetzt ändern! Mit ihrem ersten Roman "Und tot bist Du!" möchte sie so vielen Lesern wie möglich zeigen, dass in ihr ein verborgenes Talent schlummert, zumindest auf dem Papier zu morden, dass einem die Haare zu Berge stehen.
