And when the worst murders that the people of London have ever seen break out across that great City, Holmes must wade unprepared into battle, his reasoning in a shambles, against a shadowy foe that will not submit itself to any of his tortured thinking - and where Holmes risks losing both his identity and his sanity in a seemingly unwinnable battle, against the greatest enemy he has ever known: pure logic.

This is the London of Holmes and Watson transformed by the unthinkable reality of chaos - where an enigmatic, unseen beast stalks the shadowy West End; where the world behaves in lunatic ways that threaten to unhinge even the firmest of intellects - and where old friends are rendered helpless to aid the famous detective's shattered mind.
