The passionate visions Rossetti creates on canvas are echoed in their intense affair. But while Lizzie strives to establish herself as a painter and poet in her own right, betrayal, illness, and addiction leave her struggling to save her marriage and her sense of self.

Rita Cameron grew up admiring the stunning women of Pre-Raphaelite painting, and spent many hours imagining the romantic lives of the artists who painted them. She studied English literature at Columbia University, and law at the University of Pennsylvania. But like many lawyers, she dreamed of writing a novel.
