Yes. We can submit a proposal at the outline stage, especially for academic titles. A good proposal includes a working title, a chapter-by-chapter outline, an estimated word count, a clear statement of the target audience, and a note on competing titles. If we are interested, we will issue a contract with a manuscript delivery deadline.
The editorial review typically takes 4–8 weeks. You will receive an acknowledgement within 5 working days of submission.
Yes. Atlantic acquires publishing rights to produce and distribute the book. Copyright remains with you, the author, unless otherwise negotiated. This means you retain the right to use your own text in other scholarly work, teaching materials, and presentations, subject to acknowledgement.
Royalty rates vary based on the format (print vs digital), the retail price, and the agreed terms in your contract. Royalties are paid annually. We will discuss rates with you transparently at the contract stage. We do not charge authors any publishing fees — Atlantic operates on a royalty model, not a vanity or subsidy model.
Yes, for certain trade and general non-fiction titles. Most academic titles are published in print format with a digital edition where demand warrants it. If you have a strong reason for a digital-only release, discuss it with your commissioning editor at proposal stage.
Please inform us as soon as you anticipate a delay. Missing deadlines has a cascading effect on production schedules and pre-orders. We will work with you to revise the delivery date formally. Persistent delays may result in a contract review.
Yes. We invite all authors to share their cover ideas, reference images, and design preferences. Our team will use your input as a brief. However, final design decision rests with Atlantic's production team, who ensure the cover meets retail and printing standards. If you have commissioned original artwork and wish to use it, discuss this with your editor during the production phase.
Atlantic uses a multi-channel marketing approach: online retail listings with optimised metadata, social media announcements, direct outreach to university libraries and course convenors, and inclusion in our subject catalogues. You will also receive an Author Marketing Kit (see Section 7) to conduct your own promotion. For select titles, we undertake print advertising in academic journals and presence at book fairs.
Yes. You may use your published work in your own teaching, presentations, and follow-up research. You should acknowledge Atlantic as the publisher and include the copyright statement when reproducing substantial sections. For permissions related to third-party reproduction of your work, we handle the process on your behalf.
Notify your commissioning editor with the specific page number, the error, and the correct text. Corrections are incorporated into the next print run or the digital edition at the earliest opportunity. Significant factual errors in academic titles may be addressed through an erratum slip or corrigendum in the current edition.
