The world has witnessed a new economic, social and progressive order. This is due to adoption of liberalization, privatization and globalization (LPG) in synergy with information technology. LPG evolution has given new dimensions to business where the privileged countries have got an edge over the developing nations. The author has a firm belief that an innovative, highly skill-oriented and qualitative technical education that may generate superior manpower will be a sound strategy for the unprivileged countries to acquire sustainable and competitive advantages in meeting LPG challenges. With this belief, he has consciously studied the current system of technical education in India. His studies suggest substantial changes in educational system in India. The changes in the form of methods, techniques and structures are imperative for considering the aspects of environment, affordability, needs and demands of the nation. In the book, several new ideas and innovations have been reported and explained. The book begins with an in-depth study of the existing gaps and the trend of future gaps between world’s haves and have-nots with the parameters of digital divide and economic disparity. Based on the study it emphasizes different solutions to reduce the gap if not fully remove it. The important solution seems to be the reshaping and reorganizing of the technical education in India. In the book, a bold but unique and practicable suggestion of Institute-Cum-Industry (I-C-I) has been examined. I-C-I is studied with huge research. This single innovation of I-C-I can change the face of Indian technical education whereupon India may remove its unsavoury tag as the only country in the world having developed economy without developed education. Relevant and appropriate use of information technology in imparting quality education has been illustrated in the book. The book highlights a scheme of restructuring technical education to fit different sections of students opting for technical education. The subjective and objective realization of the FARE and SARE schemes projected in the book may sort out many growing problems in technical education in India. For societal benefits and equitable growth of technical branches, different suggestions have been given for according approval to the private technical institutes in India. Different practical approaches for imparting quality education in India, raising the prowess of faculty members, and improving infrastructure and funding have also been discussed. The book will prove immensely useful to vision-based educational planners, executives and thinkers besides academicians and students.
