Language and technology being two major focuses of educational reform in Indian higher education, teachers of English as a foreign language have to cope with the challenges of technological and pedagogical shifts taking place in the teaching profession. English is widely acknowledged as an international language, and it serves as an effective medium of instruction in the Indian educational institutions. English Language Teaching (ELT) has shifted its focus to the available modes, mediums and trends. The stylistic shifts have been from traditional to the formal style. Consequently there are sharp indications of swiftly shifting paradigms of ELT in India. This anthology concentrates on the new perspectives in English Language Teaching. Various aspects of ELT have been illumined in papers drawn from eminent teachers and researchers both in and outside India. It incisively epitomizes how special paradigmatic searches of the young generation have contributed to the establishment of the prevailing interests and overwhelmingly altered the global scene. The book, it is expected, will provide deeper insights into the subject and indeed find a warm welcome in the hands of the connoisseurs of English Language Teaching in India.
