In this book, the author shares the outcomes of their practical experience spanning two decades in teaching throughout India. Their objective is to present the information in a manner accessible to both experts and non-experts, with the hope of advancing the cause they deeply care about: the revival of Indian art and craft. At present, India faces significant educational, sociological, and industrial challenges, all of which are intricately linked to the future of Indian art and craft. Preserving these aspects is not only crucial for India but also holds international significance. It presents an opportunity for nations worldwide to construct a superior social and industrial system based on Indian civilization and culture, surpassing the current European model.
Ernest Binfield Havell (1861-1934), known as E.B. Havell, was a prominent English arts administrator, art historian, and author renowned for his extensive work on Indian art and architecture. From 1896 to 1905, Havell served as the principal of the Government School of Art in Calcutta. During a one-year visit to England from April 1902 to March 1903, Havell published two significant articles on Indian art in the well-known London art journal, The Studio, in October 1902 and January 1903.
