The Union Cabinet in July 2020 approved the New Education Policy, which aims at transforming our nation’s sustainably into an equitable and vibrant knowledge society, by providing high quality education to all. The new NEP encompasses a wide range of issues starting from school education to higher education. The present volume tries to unmask the policy reforms and perspectives. It also deals with the evolution of the National Education Policies in India since independence and a comparative evaluation with special reference to school education between the NPE 1986 and NEP 2020.

Dr. Ajit Mondal is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Education, West Bengal State University, Barasat, Kolkata. Formerly he was attached with the Department of Education, Surendranath College for Women (University of Calcutta), Kolkata. He has published more than 35 papers in peer-reviewed journals and authored 5 books. He has also edited twelve books on different aspects of education. He has also remarkably contributed articles to the SAGE Open Journal (SAGE Publications), Education 3-13 (Routledge: Taylor & Francis Group), Kurukshetra, Yojana (Govt. of India), The Primary Teacher Journal (NCERT), University News Journal (AIU), Mainstream Weekly and Bangladesh Education Journal (BAFED in collaboration with Bangladesh, UNESCO). Policymaking, historical development of education in India, social issues, child rights, and right to education fall under the areas of his interest. Dr. Indrajeet Dutta is presently working as Assistant Professor in Maulana Azad National Urdu University (Central University), Hyderabad and posted at one of its constituent College of Teacher Education at Bhopal. He began his teaching career from Education Department of Indraprastha Engineering College, Ghaziabad, in 2004 and later moves to Lingaya’s Lalita Devi Institute of Management & Sciences (affiliated College of GGSIP University). He has almost 16 years of teaching experience at UG and PG level. He has also edited two books on inclusive education. He has been recently appointed as member for NCTE sub-committee on Development of Open learning Resources (OLR) on Assessment for Learning and Pedagogy of Sciences. His area of specialization is Educational Evaluation, Educational Research, Education of Marginalized, Pre-Service Teacher Education, and ICT in Education. He has almost written three dozen research papers and articles in international and national journals and presented almost three dozen papers in international and national conferences. Dr. Bhanu Pratap Pritam is an Assistant Professor in Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) and has ten years of experience in teaching and research at B. Ed., M. Ed., M. Phil., and Ph. D. levels in the University Department of Education. His expertise and specialization include Teacher Education, Policy Studies in Education, and English Language Teaching. He has authored a book and published a number of articles in national and international journals.
