About The Author

Aristotle (384–322 BCE) was a Greek philosopher and polymath whose ideas laid the cornerstone of western Philosophy and Science. Born in Stagira, Northern Greece, he was the son of a physician, which fostered his early interest in the natural world. At 17, he joined Plato’s Academy in Athens, where he studied for two decades. After Plato’s death, Aristotle became tutor to Alexander the Great, an experience that further shaped his thinking on politics and ethics. His vast body of work spans logic, metaphysics, biology, ethics and political theory. Among his most influential texts is The Politics, which explores the nature of governance, citizenship and the ideal state. Aristotle also revolutionised logic through his system of syllogistic reasoning. His unique blend of empirical observation and philosophical inquiry left a lasting imprint on intellectual history. Even after more than two millennia, Aristotle’s thought continues to shape contemporary debates across philosophy, science and political theory.
