Seine lange Geschichte, die bereits in der Vorzeit ihre Wurzeln hat, beweist eindrücklich, dass sich das Kochen, Backen und Braten mit dem Dutch Oven über Jahrhunderte bestens bewährt hat.

Dementsprechend viele Anwendungsmöglichkeiten eröffnen sich. Eine lange Reihe von Hausfrauen, Köchinnen und Köchen hat an Rezepten und Zubereitungsarten getüftelt, hat ausprobiert und verkostet, das Potential des so einfachen und doch so universell anwendbaren Kochkessels erweitert und an die jeweils nächste Generation weitergegeben.

Heute schätzt man ihn, weil er mit seiner urigen Form und problemlosen Anwendung oft bei Camping und Outdoor-Aktivitäten eingesetzt wird - und daher auch von Männern gerne verwendet wird. Doch findet er in einer leicht abgeänderten Form, ähnlich einem Bräter, in der Indoor-Küche ebenso seinen Platz, zusätzlich zu Herd und Backrohr.
