About The Book

Masterarbeit aus dem Jahr 2013 im Fachbereich Philosophie - Praktische (Ethik, Ästhetik, Kultur, Natur, Recht, ...), Note: 1,3, Heinrich-Heine-Universität Düsseldorf, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Meine erste Begegnung mit dem Ausdruck "Active Ageing" fand im Sommer 2012 statt. Ich erfuhr zufällig, dass wir uns mitten im "Europäischen Jahr für Aktives Altern" befinden. Zunächst assoziierte ich mit diesem Begriff das Bild eines sportlich aktiven alten Menschen. Die ersten Recherchen zeigten jedoch, dass "Aktives Altern" ein politisches Konzept ist. Ich befürchtete, dass es sich hier um die Aktivierung der Älteren für produktive Zwecke handelt, um das wirtschaftliche Wachstum in Europa zu steigern. Je tiefer ich mich in das Thema einarbeitete, desto deutlicher wurde mir, dass "Active Ageing" eine komplexe Idee ist, die für die Zukunft eine besondere Relevanz haben wird. Als politisches Konzept soll "Active Ageing" die negativen Folgen der demographischen Alterung mildern. Allerdings ist das Konzept trotz langjähriger Analysen weder einsatzbereit noch von der möglichen Wirksamkeit her tiefgründig genug. Was grundsätzlich in diesem Projekt fehlt, ist die ethische Analyse. Das ehrgeizige Ziel der Europäischen Union, die Schaffung einer "Kultur des aktiven Alterns", kann ohne eine ethische Einschätzung nicht zum erwünschten Erfolg führen. Dieser Herausforderung, der ethischen Einschätzung des "Active Ageing", habe ich mich in der vorliegenden Arbeit gestellt.
