Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2007 im Fachbereich Filmwissenschaft, Note: 1,0, Europa-Universität Viadrina Frankfurt (Oder) (Fakultät für Kulturwissenschaften), Veranstaltung: Einführung in die Kulturwissenschaft, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Dem Film an sich gelang gerade auch in Schweden der Durchbruch von der Jahrmarktsattraktion hin zur Kunstform. Dank Filmemachern wie Victor Sjöström und Mauritz Stiller konnte hier qualitativ in neue Dimensionen vorgesto en werden. Eine "...exotisch nordische Mischung von Eigensinn und Filmbegabung, von Kompromisslosigkeit und wilder Bildkraft..." war es, die Ingmar Bergman und dem schwedischen Film in den 1950er und 60er Jahren wiederum zu Weltruhm verhelfen sollten. Heutzutage schauen die Schweden fünfmal mehr Filme als noch vor 50 Jahren - nur eben nicht mehr hauptsächlich im Kino. Die Dunkelziffer (illegale Filmdownloads im Internet, Schwarzmarktkopien, etc.) dürfte sogar weitaus höher liegen. Jeder fünfte dieser Filme ist schwedisch! Und das, obwohl man sich in der grö ten Revolution seit Einführung des Tonfilms, vielleicht sogar überhaupt befindet. Der Einzug digitaler Techniken erweist sich gleicherma en als Fluch und Segen. Umso interessanter dürfte sein, wie der traditionsreiche schwedische Film, der in seiner langen Geschichte bereits mehrere Krisen überstehen musste, der neuerlichen Herausforderung gegenübertritt und ob es ihm gelingt, weiterhin den Balanceakt zwischen Kunst und Kommerz zu meistern. Ausgangspunkt dieser Betrachtung ist der Regionalisierungsprozess in der schwedischen Filmlandschaft auf den hier ausgiebig eingegangen werden soll. Ferner wird die momentane Verwertungssituation für schwedische Filme, sowie die Förderungs- und Ausbildungspolitik des Landes beleuchtet, ehe der künstlerische Aufschwung und die neuerliche Krise thematisiert werden, um schlie lich folgende Frage zu beantworten: Ist der schwedische Film zur Jahrtausendwende lediglich nur noch per Zufall Kunst?
