About The Author

Canciani, Katia: - Originaire du Québec, Katia Canciani quitte le nid familial à 17 ans afin de poursuivre ses études dans un collège d'aviation. Elle obtient sa licence de pilote professionnelle en 1991 et devient instructrice de vol et de voltige. C'est lors de ses études universitaires en communication, quelques années plus tard, que Katia goûte pour la première fois au plaisir d'écrire et d'être lue. Alors que le journal étudiant lance un appel aux collaborateurs, Katia décide de proposer une chronique au sujet de ce qu'elle connaît le mieux: les voyages. Son premier texte s'intitulait L'Australie... et les araignées aussi . Il s'agissait d'un récit où elle racontait sa rencontre avec une araignée vénéneuse, dans une minuscule toilette, en plein milieu de la nuit, au coeur de la forêt tropicale australienne... C'était en 2002. Depuis, elle n'a jamais cessé d'écrire. C'est comme si, ayant ouvert les vannes bloquant sa créativité, elle ne pouvait plus les refermer ! (C'était aussi sa façon de célébrer le fait de ne pas être morte cette fameuse nuit-là !) Katia a publié deux romans, un récit épistolaire et trente-quatre livres pour la jeunesse. Pour écrire 178 secondes, elle a puisé dans ses souvenirs de voyage à travers le Canada, dans son expérience de pilote et dans ce que la vie lui a appris.
