Mit diesem "Tagebuch" kann man durch das Umbruchsjahr 1919 wandern, mehr oder weniger bekannte Persönlichkeiten treffen, an Hoffnungen und Niederlagen teilnehmen. Es sind zwei Schienen, die parallel laufen: Zum einen die politisch-kulturellen Ereignisse und Taten, und zum anderen die Geburt und Entwicklung der Dreigliederungsbewegung - eine Entwicklung, die ins Stocken gerät, und dadurch den Weg frei macht für die Gründung der ersten Waldorfschule. 100 Jahre später feiern dies mehr als 1000 Waldorfschulen weltweit. Und natürlich sind die beiden Stränge miteinander verknüpft, mehr, als man oft denkt. Unter anderem sind sie verbunden durch die Augenzeugen, die aktiv oder als Beobachter am Geschehen beteiligt waren und ausgiebig zu Wort kommen: Erich Mühsam, Stefan Zweig und Hermann Hesse z.B., und vor allem Rudolf Steiner. Von ihm werden Ausschnitte aus seinen Vorträgen zitiert, die mit einem offenen, vorurteilsfreien Blick verständlich sind. So kann man das Jahr 1919 heiter (?) Tag um Tag durchschreiten, und - je nach persönlichem Schwerpunkt oder Interesse - an der einen oder anderen Stelle verweilen und die zitierte Literatur weiterlesen.
