After enjoying a long winter's nap, a spring breeze awakens Song Maker and his group of friends. They soon discover that all the front yard grass and food have disappeared and they must now venture into the dangerous backyard which is filled with horrible insect-eating creatures. Mantis must fight to protect his friends. Does he survive?

Leo C. Frisk, Jr. was born in Woonsocket, Rhode Is-land in 1950. When he was seven years-old, his family moved to a small country town in Massachusetts. It was here, living in a house with a backyard filled with woods and ponds, he grew up learning about and play-ing with all kinds of animals and insects. Catching snakes and turtles during the day and lightning bugs at night were just a few of his regular childhood adven-tures. But then as all boys do, he grew up, was soon married, and was blessed with a boy of his own. When his son was just two, Leo learned he was going blind. Unable to read any longer, he began to make up stories while pretending to read to his son. He soon discovered that his son liked his stories better than the ones that were actually in the books he was holding. Today, Leo is totally blind and writes his stories from the many childhood memories he has stored in his im-agination and because of his wife Gail who inspired A Cricket's Ho Ho Hmmm? Christmas! story with her love of Christmas. Leo now resides in Harrisville, Rhode Island, in a small house in a rural area surrounded by neighbors who he considers friends. He spends his days caning chairs, working in his yard and writing children's sto-ries using his talking computer -- stories he hopes chil-dren of all ages will enjoy. A Cricket's Ho Ho Hmmm? Christmas! is Leo's second book. Leo's first book, A Cricket's Trick or Treat, was published in 2014. A Crickt's Thanksgiving was published in 2016. With A Cricket's Magical Summer, Leo has just turned 67 and hopes to continue writing children's books for many more years.
