A Dog's Tale is a short story written by the renowned American author Mark Twain in 1904. The story is narrated by a loyal and loving dog named Aileen, who belongs to a wealthy family. Aileen's life is comfortable and happy until a new puppy named Foxie arrives, who is given more attention and love by the family. Despite feeling jealous of Foxie, Aileen remains loyal to her family and takes care of the new puppy. However, things take a dark turn when the family's young daughter, who had been playing with the puppies, falls ill and dies. Aileen blames herself for not being able to protect the girl and becomes depressed.The family, unaware of Aileen's sorrow, decides to give her away to a new family. Aileen is heartbroken and longs to be reunited with her former family. She eventually finds her way back to them, but things are not the same as before. Aileen has become a stray dog, and her family no longer recognizes her. A Dog's Tale is a poignant story that explores themes of loyalty, love, and loss from a dog's perspective.
